6/28/2004 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Jack & Son Scott Gilliand & Rusty Mckee in from Tennessee and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to fish Black Bay and Breton Sound in search of some Trophy Speckled Trout and Monster Bull Redfish!!! The weather was calm with no waves no tide just slick as a Mirror, perfect for Black Bay. We stopped at several of my Hot spots we were using live Croakers and Live Shrimp on the bottom. Wham!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Scott Gilliand was Hooked up on a Monster Bull Redfish after a 20+minuet struggling to keep him out of the rig he landed the BEAST, the Monster Bull Redfish all of 39” long and about 19lbs. We saw some Pelicans diving we went over to check it out and the shad were every for miles, I took out the cast net and after only 6 cast almost filled the 94 qt box up. They make real good Snapper and Grouper Bait!!!

On the 2nd day Wham!!!ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Jack Gilliand was hooked up on a Jack Crevalle ZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! We had to chase this one down with the boat it was not stopping almost out of line!!! After a few pictures it was released to fight another day. Then it was time to get Back on the “BIG GIRLS”!!!
The next stop was on the Black Drums this was non stop action!!! All caught on dead shrimp on the bottom!!!
On the way in and saw a some bad storms right near the Bayou Camp, it looked like we were going to get wet, Not we drove the boat under the Bayou Camp just in the nick of time as after we made it in the rain came down for a few hours.

Another Successful day on the Bayou!!!
We caught on the 1st day!!!!
1 Bull Redfish (39” long weighted in at 19 lbs)
24 Speckled Trout
And almost a 94 qt box of shad

We caught on the 2nd day!!!
1 Jack Crevalle about 30lbs (Released to fight another day!!!)
40 Speckled Trout
8 Black Drums

6/27/2004 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Chris Howell fishing Team. We started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to fish Black Bay and Breton Sound in search of some Trophy Speckled Trout and Monster Bull

Redfish!!! The weather was calm with no waves a little tide just one foot waves, perfect for Black Bay. We stopped at several of my Hot spots we were using live Croakers on the bottom. Wham!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! The BIG GIRLS were biting slowly so we move in to the feeding freezense of the trout under the birds FISH ON two at a time!!! Next stop Wham!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Was hooked up on a Monster Black Drum in two feet of water and you know how they will pull you all around the boat FUN FUN FUN!!! Wham!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Chris Howell on the last fish of the day a Bull Redfish (37” long about 19lbs) a great way to end a great day on the Bayou!!! And caught in only 2 feet of water on live shrimp under a Cajun Thunder Cork!!!

We caught
1 Bull Redfish (37” long about 19lbs)
56 Speckled Trout
1 Southern Flounders
1 Black Drum
1 Gaff Top Sail Catfish
2 Sheep head (Bay Snappers)

6/23/2004 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Kris Kiefer, Jeff Arcement, Carl Lauto and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to fish Black Bay and Breton Sound in search of some Trophy Speckled Trout and Monster Bull Redfish!!! They wanted anything big for the Brother Martin Rodeo so we headed to Breton Island area. Had to make one stop saw some Bull Red and Black Drums in 2’ of water. Wham!!!ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Kris Kiefer was hooked up on a Black Drum in 2’ of water and having a great time. After Catching 2 Black Drums it was time to get on top and head out. There were Lily pads floating in clean water that was weird. You could see down 7’. Jeff Arcement was hooked on Spanish mackerel and it was jumping out of the water like a Tarpon!!! He ended up Catching 2 nice ones. Then it was ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Sharks!!! Landed a few Then it was time to go. Stopped on a small rig and Wham!!!ZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Kris Kiefer landed a nice Bull Redfish. We decided to head back in to get on some Trout. Hit a few wells for the Big Girls but no body home. Found some birds and fish until it was time to head in for the weigh in of the big black drum only to find out there was no Black Drum category.
It was another great on the Water!!!

We caught
1 Bull Redfish
2 Black Drums (one was 29lbs)
18 Speckled Trout
2 Spanish Mackerels

6/22/2004 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Stephen Kruse, Dan Mason, Joe Tuma, Bill Baker and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to fish Black Bay and Breton Sound in search of some Trophy Speckled Trout and Monster Bull Redfish!! The weather was calm with no waves no tide just slick as a Mirror, perfect for Black Bay. We saw 3 Water spouts in a distance. We stopped at several of my Hot spots we were using live Croakers and live Shrimp on the bottom for the BIG GIRLS!!! They all were in the 2lbs-3.5lbs Class!!! Wham!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Dan Mason was hooked up on Monster Bull Redfish ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! It took him for a ride around and around the boat after a 20+minuet struggling to keep him out of Propeller he landed the BEAST, the Monster Bull Redfish all of 37” long and about 20lbs. We were using Live shrimp under a Cajun thunder cork in 2’ of water made this Monster Bull Redfish on great fight. Wham!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Bill Baker on his 50th Birthday was hooked up on Monster Bull Redfish ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Only to have it break off on the rig, it was fun while it lasted!!! Wham!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Joe Tuma was in for the next fight it was a 27lb Black Drum another great fight in two foot of water!!!
We even took the time to take in some sites of some Egrets and Reseated spoonbill nesting on an island, took a few great pictures then back fishing. It was all Good!!!
Thanks to Jack Cates and Stephen Kruse for setting up a great fishing trip. I had a great time with such nice group.
Another successful day on the Water!!!
We caught
1 Bull Redfish (37” long and 20lbs)
2 Redfish
1 Black Drum (27 lbs)
18 Speckled Trout (14 of them were in the 2lbs-3.5lbs Class)
3 Sheephead

6/14/2004 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Dan wife Fran and Son Johnny and wife Tina Calvert in from Colorado. We started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to fish Black Bay and Breton Sound in search of some Trophy Speckled Trout and Monster Bull Redfish!!! The weather was calm with no waves no tide just slick as a Mirror, perfect for Black Bay and Breton Sound. On the first day we went way out try to get away from the river water and catch any thing BIG!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Shark!!! The River water was all the way to Breton Island!!! So we headed back to the Marsh. On the 2nd day we went after The Big Girls early then finished up on the Trout under the Birds. The shrimp were jumping out of the water and you could even see the trout after them. The Calverts were swing trout at me as many as 6 fish at a time. This was FISH ON!!! We had a lot of Two fish hook-ups!!! We had fish all over the floor I need a shovel but I used the netting to get them off of the floor!!! We had one Mullet just jump right into the boat, that were the saying came from ( “fish jumping in the boat”)!!! You Must get on some of this fast ACTION!!!

We caught on the 1st day
7 Speckled Trout (One weighted 4lb)
2 4’ Sharks ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!
6 Lady fish
2 Blue’s
and a lot of break off so back to the marsh.

We caught on the 2nd day
125 Speckled Trout (“LIMITED OUT”) ( “25 WERE IN THE 3LBS TO 4LBS
CLASS”)
6 White Trout
1 Gaff Top Catfish

6/13/2004 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Luis Hardy, and son Jim and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to fish Black Bay and Breton Sound in search of some Trophy Speckled Trout and Monster Bull Redfish!!! The weather was calm with no waves no tide just slick as a Mirror, perfect for Black Bay. Some of the trout were caught under the Birds with Sparkle Beetles and The Big Girls were caught with Live Croakers!!! The Trout Action is ON under the Birds so don’t miss out catching Trout two at a time!!!
Just another great day on the water!!!

We caught
47 Speckled Trout (Some Big Girls 3lbs to 4lbs class)

6/9/2004 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Check out a few more Great Pictures!!! Had the privilege of fishing again with Project Consulting Services, Inc. Gary Vogt CA Sprick. his Brother Phil Sprick, and Clyde Gravois, The RUMMEL RODEO FISHING TEAM and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to fish Black Bay and Breton Sound in search of some Trophy Speckled Trout and Monster Bull Redfish!!! On the first day the weather was ok with 1’ waves no tide, but we wanted some tide in which we ended up with. We stopped at several of my Hot spots we were using live Croakers on the bottom. Wham!!! CA Spricks was hooked up on a 33 Bull Redfish ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! After a 10+minuet struggling to keep him out of the rig he landed the BEAST, the Monster Bull Redfish all of 33” Wham!!! Clyde Gravois ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! On a Bull Redfish It went into the rig he waited for him the bump the pilling and he would swim back out, he landed this Bull Redfish with a cut off tail!!! We were moving from spot to spot even running away from the rain. We had FISH ON “THE BIG GIRLS”!!! We all had fun with many three fish hooked up at a time. We could have LIMITED OUT but deiced to head in for the Rummel Fishing Rodeo Dinner. On the 2nd day we caught some early “BIG GIRLS” and Clyde Gravois had the fight of his Life with a 27lb Jack Crevalle ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!! After all of that fun we wanted something Big for the Rodeo. We wanted to get on a Monster Bull at the Central area, but there was so many boats on each well head it was unreal a boat for every fish. The water had at least ten foot visible, but the tide was too strong. Headed back to the five well!!!

We caught on the 1st day
74 Speckled Trout
3 Bull Redfish in the 33”+ in length
1 Redfish
1 Sheephead

We caught on the 2nd day
16 Speckled Trout

1 Jack Crevalle ZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! ( 27 Lbs, Released to Fight Another Day )

And mad it in just before the Hard Rain!!!

6/7/2004 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Bill Conger, David & Larry Conger, AKA John Doe Beck and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to fish Black Bay and Breton Sound in search of some Trophy Speckled Trout and Monster Bull Redfish!!! This was a late report the weather conditions were windy with muddy water, but it did not stop us from catching fish all three days!!! They were willing to fish all day in any weather!!! The last day was able to get on a few Arsome trout!!! Thanks again for all of the dinners. Iam still stuffed!!!

We caught on the 1th day
18 Redfish ( Perfect Grilling Size, Half Shell )
1 Sheephead
1 Jack Crevalle ( Released to fight another day )

We Caught 2nd day
5 Redfish
2 Sheephead

6/3/2004 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Joel Marris and Chad and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to fish Black Bay and Breton Sound in search of some Trophy Speckled Trout and Monster Bull Redfish!!! Joel came in from Texas with his boat. The water was muddy and ruff seas not the best day to be on the water, but we has a good day most of the trout were the Big Girls!!! Chad was PHONE ON!!! He did not have too much time to fish Check out the picture.
