7/19/2004 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Bob Hafner and Bob Myers in from Oklahoma to get on some Louisiana Fishing. We started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to fish Black Bay and Breton Sound in search of some Trophy Speckled Trout and Monster Bull Redfish!!! Wham!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Bob Hafner was Hooked up on a Monster Jack Crevalle Stripping all of the line down to just a few raps left on the reel so we had to chase him down with boat. After a 20+minuet struggling with him Bob Had to take break. We took a few quick pictures with the Beast of 27lbs then released him to give someone else a chance at great fight. On another stop Wham!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Bob Hafner was Hooked up on a Monster Bull Redfish and it was no stopping this one and the line was popped on one of the rig pilings. Not long after that Wham!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! It was my turn another Monster Bull Redfish and no stopping this one either!!! They were just getting the best of us!!! After a while it was getting too windy and ruff to stay on the outside so we headed into the marsh and Bob Myers turn Wham!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! It was a Bull Redfish 30” long he hooked this one right next to the boat and it took off Bob evently tuned him and landed the Bright Orange Bull Redfish!!!. Then It was Redfish on the halfshell time 12 of them in the 20+” long Class!!!

We caught on the 1st day
1 Bull Redfish (30” long)
12 Redfish
4 Speckled Trout (One Trout had no spots on his Body, Just on the Fin and Tail)
1 Jack Crevalle (27 lbs Released to fight another day)

Tide = 8” Rising
Weather = Partly Cloudy
Winds =West Wind 10-20
Waves = 2’to 3’
Water Temp = 79 Degrees
Water = 6” Visibly
The 2nd Day it was a new day with new challenges the water was low, like a winter low tide after a strong front. The water was Muddy and Low so the next option would be to fish on the out side but no the West Wind, Wind, Wind, Was Blowing 20-30 and that was not going to let that happen. We tried anyway it was too ruff so it was back to the marsh and get some of those half shell redfish!!!

We caught on the 2nd day
2 Redfish (One red had NO SPOT on his Tail)
12 Speckled Trout (Released another 25 + small Trout)

Tide = 5” Rising wind held the tide from moving
Weather = Cloudy all day
Winds =West Wind, Wind, Wind, 20-30
Waves = 2’to 4’
Water Temp = 75 Degrees
Water = 6” Visibly
Another successful weekend of fishing with some tuff conditions from Mother Nature!!! Thanks again for the Dinner at Dragos!!!
