8/18/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Kevin Mixion, his dad Herman Mixion, Brother Stephen Mixion, and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to Black Bay in search of some Trophy Trout and Monster Bull Redfish!!!
The weather was 30+Knots so I asked Herman what the wanted to do and they said go outside to get on the BIG GIRLS and I told them the waves would be at least 4’ but that was not stopping them they were ready to fish.  We stopped at one of my Hot spots we were using live Croakers on the bottom. Wham!!! Nice 3+ lb Trout both Kevin and his Brother Stephen were HOT never before catching Trout this Big they were getting a taste of some of the Louisiana’s Finest Fishing with some of the Hardest fishing conditions. After a few trout we tried to get on some trout behind one of the Islands and the water was just too muddy.  We tried a few more rigs before the waves got to 5’ then it were time to head for the Marsh!!! Once in the Marsh we started catching 4’ to 8” Croakers which were too big for the inside fishing in which we saved for me to use on Bull Reds, Snappers, and an Amberjack on Sunday. (Thank Yall again for the Bait!!!) We sure had a great time catching them. After catching some Trophy Trout, from 3lbs to 4.5lbs on the out side the Marsh was not going to do it for these Dudes. We will just have to try again when the conditions are better. We had some of the hardest conditions, too much wind and muddy water but that did not stop them from having a great time.
Check out the Great Pictures!!!
