5/24/2004 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Penny & Morgan Legendre, Wayne & Mary Jo Leche and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to fish Black Bay and Breton Sound in search of some Trophy Speckled Trout and Monster Bull Redfish!!! The weather was calm with no waves no tide just slick as a Mirror, perfect for Black Bay. We stopped at one of my Hot spots we were using live Croakers on the bottom. Wham!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Penny Legendre was hooked up on Monster Bull Redfish and this one put up a great fight in shallow water!!! Everyone else was just having a great time pulling in the Speckled Trout, some of them were jumping right out of the water like a Bass.
Another successful day on the Water!!!
We caught
1 Bull Redfish 38” long and weighted 18+ lbs
40 Speckled Trout (Most of them in the 3lbs class)
Check out the Great Pictures!!!

5/25/2004 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Rest of the Great Pictures!!! Claud Clark & Hunter Murphy and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to fish Black Bay and Breton Sound in search of some Trophy Speckled Trout and Monster Bull Redfish!!! The weather was too ruff to fish in some of the outer spots. We stopped at several of my Hot spots we were using live Croakers on the bottom. Wham!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Hunter Murphy was Hooked up on a Monster Bull Redfish after a 20+minuet struggling to keep him off of the piling and out of the Propeller he landed the BEAST, the Monster Bull Redfish all of 43” long and weighted 30lbs. Latter on he was on another ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! An Alligator Gar measuring 4’ long, I took out the gaff for this one I was not going to let him eat up my new landing that was only one day old due to a previous trip that a Bull Red broke. He managed to get the Beast nest to the boat set the gaff and barely was able to lift him over the hand rail!!! This was a hard day due to the 25 mile per hour wind they hung in for about a 130 mile round trip trying to find some clean water ended up way in the marsh.

We caught
1 Bull Redfish 43” long weighted 30lbs
2 Redfish
1 Alligator Gar measuring 4’ long
2 Speckled Trout
1 Bass

Tommy & Brandon Barber. We started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to fish Black Bay and Breton Sound in search of some Trophy Speckled Trout and Monster Bull Redfish!!! But weather was not in our favor and getting windy, up to 25 miles per hour. We ended up having to fish in the Marsh and Bayous due to the muddy, ruff water and some areas with river water. Wham!!! Brandon Barber was Hooked up on a Monster Bull Redfish!!! All of 40” long and about 20+lbs this red should have weight more for it length, but it had nothing in its stomach. We were using Live Croakers, Live Minnows under a Cajun thunder cork in 2’ of water. We made the best of what Mother Nature gave and had a great time!!!
