Dan and Fran Calvert flew in from Colorado to catch some Bull Redfish. We started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to Black Bay for some Trophy Trout and Monster Bull Redfish!!! The weather was calm with 6” chop perfect for Black Bay. We stopped at one of my Hot spots we were using live Croakers on the bottom I showed them how were going to hook the Croakers and what to expect when it hit the bottom.  I cased out the first line out and gave the pole to Fran Calvert and Wham!!! She was hook up on her first Salt Water Fish after a 20+minuet struggle she landed The Monster Bull Redfish all of 43” long and 30lbs Dan and I both were impressed!!! Then it was Trophy Trout on, from 3lbs to 5lbs.
Dan had his turn on a line stripping Jack Crevalle he landed it and we released it to fight another day!!!
They caught what they wanted in the first day but they were also scheduled to fish one more day and they also was already booked  on a trip with me in October in which they can’t wait!!!

7/23/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Ed and Doris Shaw 2nd time out within 30 day with me this time the brought down some of the family to stay in the OAK Camp so we can get off to an early start. Daughter Wendy Mc Rainey. Trace Mc Rainey, Emma Mc Rainey, and Grandson Taylor Robin. Also following us in the Bite Me Boat Wayne Villemuer, Melinda, Raymond and there son Matt Gros. We started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to Black Bay for some Trophy Trout!!! First stop Trace hooked up on one large trout one for the box. I had a Bull Red hooked up took off to Cuba in to the rig where thanks to the spider wire the line did not break off!!! We were fishing on the bottom with Live Croakers for the Big Girls!!! After the landing the bull red the bite stopped so we headed to the in to fish the Islands where we hooked up on 32 nice trout. The bite was slow but steady. We were using Cajun Thunder Corks fishing about 2’ deep with live shrimp, this worked the best!!! We also made an evening marsh trip and was just getting on some trout and throw back size reds, when the weather went to ____ we took off the long way and missed most of the rain and wind, you could feel the 15 degrees drop in temperature from this storm. We made it almost all the way in but the last 10 minuets we got wet!!!

7/22/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Melinda, Raymond and there son Matt Gros in my boat and  Wayne Villemuer, Gerry Barnett Will Clark and Larry Trhant in the boat named “Bite Me” great name for a boat!!! We started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to Black Bay for some Trophy Trout!!! We had a fast Bite on some 5lbs Trophy Trout catching them on live Croakers, it looked like we were going to sink the boat!!! Bite Me was right with us with fish on!!! Then nothing time to move!!! We had some of the best weather you could ask for. But no tide the west wind was holding up the incoming tide which also made the water get muddy.  We were having a great time and had tried several different rigs but the fish were on the Islands. We started catching some more trout under a Cajun Thunder Cork with live Croakers and Live Shrimp.
These trout were in the 12” to 16” class the best eating size.
The larger Trophy Trout were caught on the Rigs!!! We also tried some for some red in the marsh on the inside one nice red on the “Bite Me”Boat.
End up catching
23 Trout Mostly 3lb to 5.4.lbs
1 Redfish
1 drum

7/14/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Phil Orgeron, Henry Wallace and Louis and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou and wanted to catch some Trophy Trout in Black Bay. We were using Live Croakers for the BIG GIRLS. This was Phil Orgeron and Henry Wallace 2nd trip the first one in May. Louis Benjamin came in from California.

The weather was Great with only a 1’ chop.
We started off with a slow bite and ended up with
21 Speckled Trout
3 Redfish
1 Flounder
We ended up fishing on some of Captain Phil’s Hot spots and had some fast action on some trout. Thanks again for sharing some great fishing spots and fishing ideas!!!  Fished on the birds but the trout were not there. This was my first but in this area Phil told me it happened to him before. It looked like they were feeding on rain minnows or small white shrimp.

7/6/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Ed & Doris Shaw came down from Hazlehurst MS. We started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to Black Bay for some Trophy Trout!!! We were on some Nice Trout when Ed hooked up on a Mata Ray he had on hell of a time with this one we took a picture and released the BEAST!!!
They wanted to check out some wild life so we went to a The Bird Island, took a few pictures and back to fishing. We went after the birds to try and get a few more trout but the wind was too strong and the waves getting bigger. Ed preferred to head back for bigger trout but the weather would not let us.
Off to the MARSH in search of the GOLDEN TROUT, this was easier than chasing fish under the birds. FISH ON!!!
Doris really enjoyed fishing she caught on nice Southern Flounder and a lot of trout.
Back at the dock Doris took a shower while I cleaned up the trout she was not in the Picture for the Dinner Table Shot!!!
Great Catch and Relaxing day sight seeing!!!

7/4/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Robert & Elizabeth, William & Karen Piazza they came down towing a camper with a boat behind it “what a great set up” you can tell they did this before.
They were in for some Louisiana fishing. They stayed in the OAK CAMP. The next day we started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to Black Bay for some Trophy Trout!!! When we got out to the rigs the water was too ruff so we decided to go SURF FISHING we headed to a rock reef Island where the shore birds were not happy to have some visitors.
We had a great on the beach before the rain.
We caught a few trout then the storms came in so we ended up on a barge out of the weather waiting it out for about 2hrs. The weather was not going to let us fish Black Bay!!!
So we went to fish in the marsh for some Southern Flounder, Red and smaller Trout.
When we got to the dock they were catching BLUE CRABS with a few traps and nets.
They headed out just before the Storm “BILL” That put water over my dock and on the road!!!

Check out the Great Pictures!!!

7/3/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Tom Adams Ed and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou just looking for TROPHY TROUT!!! We were fishing with live Croakers on the bottom and some spots under a Cajun Thunder Cork.
The weather was scattered Thunder Storms in every direction but we able to move around them and stay dry.
Tom was on a trout that must have been around 5lbs, when all at once the Trout took off like a Red Fish ZZZZZZZZZZ but it must have been a SHARK, it ate Toms lunch. The Shark left him with just the head, Nice Picture!!!
Tom hooked up on a Large Jack and was fighting it while we were chasing it with the boat. It took us for ride. It was a fun time we saw the jack on the surface and we thought is was over for him when one more run and the line broke off.

Check out the Great Pictures!!!
