11/25/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Raymond Canon, Charlie Thomas and Jerry Leggitt came in from Arkansas. After they had a good night stay in the Bayou Camp we started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to fish in the Marsh and Bayous in search of some Speckled Trout and Redfish!!! We made a stop in the Middle of Lake Robin and we had 20 throw back in a row. So we move on!!! The Speckled Trout are still feeding on live shrimp under a Cajun Thunder Cork. Raymond and Charlie were picking on Jerry during the hole fishing trip!!! This was a trip that you had to move from spot to spot picking up a few here and there, because the weather had warmed up and the trout had scattered. Thank God for the cold front we had today it will have the trout back into the winter pattern. FISH ON!!! Just another great day on the Bayou!!!
We caught
2 Redfish
53 Speckled Trout
3 Sheephead
Check out the Great Pictures!!! All you have to bring is a fishing license and what you want to eat and drink. Two Comfortable Private Deluxe overnight accommodations that have NIGHT FISHING & you can catch CRABS right from the boat dock.

Just check out the picture!!! Sammy Bowman was on the Red Fish spot catching at least 17 Throw back 14” to 15.75’’ range. He ended up Keeping 3 nice reds!!! 11/10/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

R. P. Fonteno and two of his sons Dan and Tim had me over for dinner and what a feast. Thanks again. The next morning we started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou going to fish in the Marsh and Bayous in search of some Speckled Trout and Redfish!!! We were thinking about going to try and get on some bull redfish action like R.P. Fontento had caught last time out offshore, but the wind made that impossible 25+ north east. We knew were in for a long day. We fished the birds and that was a surprise they were feeding in such strong winds. The trout were making the shrimp jump out of the water and the birds were catching their share, this was one hell of a shrimp kill!!! But it was catch three trout and maybe we would keep one. We were fishing with Live Shrimp 1.5’ under a Cajun Thunder Cork. The wind picked some more and the birds stopped feeding. We tried all over the area and were just lucky of catch what we did. Dan Fonteno had a great time landing a 27.5” Bull red in 1.5’ of water.
We caught
1 Bull Redfish
16 Speckled Trout
ALSO THANKS TO GERARD CASWELL FOR REFERING R. P. Fonteno and two of his sons. Check out the Great Pictures!!! All you have to bring is a fishing license and what you want to eat and drink.
