5/28/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

REST OF THE PICTURES!!! DONNA HURST Winner of 1st place SPECKLED TROUT in the Back to Lake Fishing Rodeo!!!

On Sunday had the privilege of fishing with Ken Breaux of Project Consulting Services, Inc. Kevin, and his wife Donna Hurst we started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou heading out to BLACK BAY FOR SOME TROPHY TROUT!!! We had THE BAIT SOME LIVE CROAKERS FROM BRETON SOUND MARINA, THANKS TO A GREAT FRIEND “BOGGIE” WHO EVEN SOLD ME THEM AFTER HOURS!!! This is what the TROPHY TROUT are eating they hate them, because the CROAKERS are eating the trout eggs. We also used Live Shrimp, Live Minnows, Live Shad, Dead Shrimp, and Lures.

We had the perfect weather and tide was less than Saturday but ok for the HOT SPOTS that were fishing!!!

We ended the day with:
50 Speckled Trout up to 6.525lbs Donna Hurst Winner of 1st place in the Back to Lake Fishing Rodeo!!! (Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation).
Kevin Hurst trout was 4.8oz just missed 3rd place by about 6oz.
2 Redfish
1 Black Drum

Bragging rights belonged to DONNA HURST Winner of 1st place in the Back to Lake Fishing Rodeo!!! (Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation).
With the biggest trout of the day!!!

We even took time out to see some of the ROSEATED SPOONBILLS and EGRETS NESTING ON A ISLAND.

The day was fish on!!! Relaxing and taking in some great sites!!!

5/27/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Tim Halwell, family and Friend Andy stayed in the bayou camp and brought his BAY BOAT I jumped in for a quick trip right in the back yard, we started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou. They were having a thought time like everyone else with the 25+ miles per hour winds. 5/27/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Dennis Crawford, Joe Morton, Cornel Arceneaux, Gus Gauthand I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou looking for some Trophy Trout and we got on some fighters.
This is the second time for Mr. Dennis Crawford stayed in the Bayou camp and fishes the area the last time with out Captain Gene who took real good care of them, fish on!!!
Mr. Dennis Crawford and Cornel Arceneaux has some days booked in November and is ready to fish again!!!
These Dudes!!! Had a time of their life, great memories, great food, and always joking!!!

I can’t wait for the November trip.

Had the privilege of fishing with Project Consulting Services, Inc. FISHING TEAM Gary Vogt, Bill Rose, Don Hebert and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou heading out to BLACK BAY FOR SOME TROPHY TROUT!!! We had THE BAIT SOME LIVE CROAKERS FROM BRETON SOUND MARINA, THANKS TO A GREAT FRIEND “BOGGIE” WHO EVEN SOLD ME THEM AFTER HOURS!!! 89 Speckled Trout up to 4 1/2lbs they really keep me busy with the net.

Don was hooking the rig, seagull and everything in site, having a great time.

5/26/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Cindy Sloan, Jerry Levens, Jerry Favre, Jimmy Stoked Trace Favre and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou heading out to BLACK BAY FOR TROPHY TROUT!!!
This was a day to watch the weather, I was on the cell talking to Karren trying to find out which direction the storm was heading. It was from Venice to lake Borne when she told me it was heading south east in which was right for us I hung up and told Captain Gene who was also on some 3lb Speckled Trout LETS GET OUT OF HERE!!!
We pulled up the Cajun Spear and put on the rain gear and headed in.
It was 20 minutes and you could feel the colder air about 15 degrees colder and packing 30+ miles per hour wind.
We left just in time if we would have waited any longer we would have had 5’ waves, bad enough we got a wet!!!!
It hard to leave when we were on 3+ lb fish, but were glad to get in just look at the wind and rain in the pictures.
With a total of 63 trout they were very happy and still had a great time, one that they will not forget!!!

5/20/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

The rest of the pictures!!!

Phil Orgeron, Bill, Henry and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou and wanted to catch some Trophy Trout in Black Bay. The wind was out of the south and about 20+ miles per hour. The water was getting muddy making the bite slow.  We caught some on the rigs then moved to the Islands for the BIG GIRLS.

Henry was thinking about buying a boat and was checking out my setup.
After fishing I think he liked the Idea no fish to clean, no boat to clean, no boat to gas up etc. You get the Idea.

We ended up fishing on some of Captain Phil’s Hot spots and caught some real nice fish. Thanks again for sharing some great fishing spots!!!

We spent some time checking out some pink spoonbills check out the great pictures of them.

Bill was fighting a Black Drum in shallow, great fun!!!

Fished on the birds but the trout were small.  We moved on to bigger and better trout.

On the way in Henry was driving checking out the power of my new 225 HONDA!!!

5/20/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Daymond Nunez, Marsert Tervillion, T.J. Tervillion, Carrie Callahan from Markville and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou heading out to BLACK BAY FOR SOME TROPHY TROUT but as soon as we arrived the winds picked up to 25+ MILES PER HOUR.  With 4’+ waves and muddy water we fished for a few minutes but no bites.  We left for the marsh. We were getting soaked from head to toe, from the white caps, hitting the waves broad sided. This was fun for the girls they were just laughing and have a good time. WE WERE GETTING A WET #@%. “GIRLS JUST WANTA HAVE FUN!!!”

After about 2.5 hour boat ride we got one fat Southern Flounder and started on the GOLDEN SPECKLED TROUT!!! By this time the girls were being COOKED with MOJO HOT SAUCE SUN TANNING LOATION.

These girls even baited and cast out their own lines ARSOME!!!
JUST GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!

We ended up with ten Golden Trout and two Southern Flounder not a bad day for all of the wind and muddy water.

Daymond Nunez last trip out with me was 2 BULL DRUMS ONE WEIGHT 39LBS ANOTHER 33LBS. AND 6 BULL REDS!!! + Other fish. I was trying to keep a low profile because of other boats in the area but these DUDES!!! KEPT ON SCREAMING, “GET DA NET!!!” “GET DA NET!!!” “GET DA NET!!!”

5/19/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

On their HONEYMOON Kelly &Tammy Hannegan Stayed in the BAYOU CAMP after spending a few day in NEW ORLEANS.  They were ready for some Louisiana fishing. We started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou heading out to black bay for some 20+” trout. The bite was slow which is usual for such large trout.
Another windy day but a great one!!!

5/18/2003 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Tai Nguyen , Richard, Tom and I started down Dudenhefer’s Bayou heading out in search of the birds diving on live shrimp!!! We stopped on some birds in lake Robin and they were small and the wind was blowing 20+. It was tuff staying with the birds in all of wind and waves.
Headed out in search of bigger trout, hooked up on some TROUT IN THE 20”+ SIZE BUT WERE IN 4’ waves.  The conditions made the bite slow but worth it for these nice size trout!!!
