7/31/2002 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

David and Will got off to a early start. We got to one of the first spots before the birds were even up!!!
We had a few nice keeper trout. Then head to Breton Sound for the big ones.
It was a tuff day with only 3/10 of a tide change. End up with 3 keeper Bull Red that were fighing like you would not belive they were check out the broken corks.
The water was Boiling with Reds, we could have sunk the boat!!! It fun to release fish. We had some even release themself by taring up a lot tackel!!!
Ended up with 14 nice trout. Lots of small trout under the birds.

 

7/29/2002 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

When you Check out the pictures you will see Just what Mr. Bill Neff wanted to catch Just Trout and I mean The perfect eating size. When he called me up he said “I need some trout for the freezer”. I said you call the right one!!! He also said “he did not want to catch any Red’s Just Trout”. So we did just that!!! Lets Go Fishing!!! 7/28/2002 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Bill Neff, Chris, Cliff and Dick came down from Mississippi. We started on The Birds Two at a time the action was there but a lot of small fish. After 10 keepes we took off for 2 to 3+ Lb Fish. Every one was catching on live Mullets, Live Shrimp and Shad.  This crew were experienced fishermen.

 

7/28/2002 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

After fishing the birds we wanted biger trout so we took of. Just see the size of the next group of pictures.
Chris even caught Old Yellow!!!  The action was non stop It was hard to grab something to eat or drink and it was getting Hot Hot and calm. Dick was on the fish but he had one of thoes days were they spit it hook right at the boat! Were Chris Was on the Big trout and realy caught his fair share!!!

 

7/28/2002 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

The day was hot and calm and the fishing was right on. We caught the trout on Live shrimp, Live mullet, and Live Shad. Chris caught some real heavy trout!!! Check out the pictures. Mr. Bill sent Dick to his room for losing so many trout right before the boat he was (punished). I even changed the hook thing he was using a barbless hook. No! the fish were just hainging on to the bait. Dick Caught some real nice fish, Check out the pictures!!! Mr. Cliff Was Staying Hooked up Catching some real nice trout!!!

 

7/27/2002 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

This is what Mary and her son Jamal Diab were looking to catch Red Fish. After catching 43 Nice trout. They came in from Kansas they cant wait to come back to louisiana to fish Salt Water again. The Red were caught in the marsh of Hopedale. The trout were under the birds!!! Fishing with live shrimp

 

7/25/2002 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Biscayne Bay trout right before the heavens opened up!

Capt Mark Ifill put me on them and the top dog did the rest…1 fish out of a 4 fish limit,,,Louisiana has us spoiled
buddy. I must have missed 10 before I landed this one.
Reaction time with the no-stretch line had me jerking it
out of their mouth. Have a great day and hope your down weekend gets alot done.

After Catching Trout under the Birds we went on One of my Hot spots. As soon as we stoped the Fish were on. 1lb to 3+lb Trout. Caught on Live Mullet and Live Shad!!! one right afer another. 7/23/2002 Captain Dude!!! Hopedale / Delacroix Island Fishing Report!!!

Robin & Randy Nesser in from Baton Rouge stayed in the Camp Under the Old Oak Trees. We started to head out at 5:15am and the skys look a disco with the strobe light going on and off. The lighting was unreal!!! But we took off anyway. As we got out further the lighting started a fire in the distance. The winds picked up as we got further out we were heading for the on clear spot (no rain). Then the rain closed in from the way we came from, so there was no way back unless we wanted to get wet. We stopped under the birds and started catching fish 2 at a time!!! The shrimp were jumping out of the water and the birds were munching out. The trout were in a feeding freenzey!!! When Steve and Robbie started fishing with their expensive light tackel bait caster I knew we were in trouble!!!
With the light tackel they caught everything that moved. We even had to let the next two fish go!!! check out the next picture.
